A Week Ago Today....

...we had just left the Anderson's after a very fun visit and a stay overnight!! So here are some pictures that I'm finally getting around to posting!

I can't remember what the word was but nobody knew the correct definition so Melanie came to the rescue with Webster's 1828. :):)

We played violin, piano with a little dulcimer here and there for awhile. It was SO fun!!

Memories from 2008

~I was tagged by my sister Amy. I can't say that 2008 was the most memorable year I've ever had but in all, it was fair and God has been good the whole way through!

Remembering 2008 ~A good book I read: Little Women is great. I love Jo and Beth because they are both so totally me. :)

A great film/movie I watched: Red Fury is a really good movie, I think. Its a simple tale of a young innocent Indian boy who overcomes racial prejudice by sacrificing his beautiful horse to save the life of the wife and baby of the man who had wronged him.

A new place I visited: I guess the only new place I visited this year was the new addition at Lehmans. Pretty fancy!

An inspiring verse or quote I read: "And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all."

A new skill I acquired: How to show a turkey!! (While he bit and pecked at me the whole way through showmanship and carcass judging classes!) Lovely bird! He's in someone's freezer now. :)

A lesson I learned: Hot tempers and selfish attitudes never get anyone anywhere

A moment I will always remember: Having my little niecey born on my 18th birthday. That was neat!

Winter Fun and Others

~We are most certainly enjoying winter here on our farm! This morning it finally reached -13 which is exciting for people who like to ice skate and ice fish! Here are some pictures from our week....

We took advantage of the snow with pony rides. Nathan held Treasure while I hitched her up and rigged up the saucer behind her.

This is a homemade sled but it is fabulous. VERY fast and made out of manger liner and a crib mattress. You may laugh but it works splendidly and is quite comfortable! That is what comes with having such genius's in the family.

A Great Visit!

~What a treat it was to have Uncle Jim and Jessica here for a few days! We gamed ourselves out that first night with a long game of 'Fast Scrabble' then 'Imagine-If" all the while munching on a delicious snack of 'white trash' . Mmm, good but dangerous to your health I'm sure! Thursday we spent the entire morning learning to knit and crocheting with Jess.:) Thanks Jess for inspiring us to pick it up again! Then we went out for ice cream at Walnut Creek Cheese. (Everyone might not think it's as great as we say, but we love it! A hunderd million flavors so smooth and creamy under your nose and countless mouth watering sundays....So if you drop in some time, we just might treat you.:) I'm sad we have no pictures of that but at least you won't drool then.:) Dad took Uncle Jim on a quick tour of the neighbor hood that afternoon... we played more games... took a crisp walk... made pizza... and the pictures say the rest.

Jess loves yarn... and so does KC!

Jessica is such an incredible knitter!! I wish you could see what gorgeous

things she's made. From scarves to sweaters she's amazing. :)

She tried to teach us how to knit which was great; I'm just

not sure how much her students retained! Thanks Jess!

Othello holds so many memories in this house.

A game that came from Grandma's basement and one Dad used to play constantly as a boy. Mom remembers playing it with him while they were dating but she never understood it and Dad always won! Strategy.:) It was so neat to see brothers, years later sit down and pick it up again. The years seems to slip away as Dad refreshes his brother on how to play. They both had a chance at winning from what I heard.
